September 2009 News Update
Thank you to those of you who attended our Annual General Meeting. Nice to see faces, both old and new. Our new committee was formally endorsed, names and positions listed below.
Sadly we say goodbye to three of our old committee. Harley Alexander did all the initial work setting up our website, and we valued his input, and dry wit. David Vaughan, is a founder member of The Friends, and his hard work as our Membership Secretary was much appreciated. Finally, farewell and thanks to Audrey Leckie, a senior member of our organisation much cherished for her wise counsel and for her needlework and banner making skills. We shall of course continue to see all three, we hope, at our regular members meetings, and taking part in all our activities.
This month we look forward to the annual visit of Zippos Circus (for dates see Upcoming Events), and along with the Parks Department, we shall be working closely with the circus, to ensure that The Green is well looked after.
As I have noted before, The Friends undertake a twice yearly clean up, of The Green, and our next takes place on Sunday 4th October, at 10:30 am, meeting at The Pavilion. Feel free to come and join us; bring some gardening gloves. We will be there for an hour or so, cleaning up any litter, tidying up the re-cycling area, and generally trying to keep our Green looking good.
