Notes from the Chair

Once again the weather was kind for the annual Hands Charity Fair on the May Bank Holiday.  Great to see so all the local volunteers raising funds for so many good causes, on The Green.  The Friends certainly had a good day, and yet again it was an opportunity to meet the public and explain what it is that we do.

One thing we are currently doing, is trying to look after all the young trees that have recently been planted.  I must express thanks to our Tree Officer Sam, for organizing local volunteers to assist with the care of the saplings.  If you see people with buckets of water out on The Green, then you can be sure Sam’s organization is working well, making sure that the young trees do not go thirsty during the dry spells.

Next event on The Green will be the Fun Day on Saturday 19^th, part of the annual Twickenham Festival.  Here is hoping that the weather stays good, so that everyone can have a good time.
