July 2010 News Update

I never ceased to be amazed how quickly Twickenham Green can turn to Twickenham Brown, as a dry spell takes it’s toll of the grass.  Equally amazing, is how just one day of rain can restore the colour.  More worrying for us lately has been our new London Planes.  The dry spell did highlight how their root systems are still not that deeply established.  Our volunteers are dutifully going to their assistance, but if there any more of you out there, particularly close to First Cross Road and The Staines Road side, who want to help, with watering, then please get in touch via this web site.

This coming Sunday, the 18th, will see our third annual Friends of Twickenham Green Village Fete.  Even more local groups have chosen to get involved, and I look forward to seeing you there.  Come along to The Friends of Twickenham Green stall to meet us personally, buy a  raffle ticket, or chose to join.  Let’s hope for just a little more of that dry spell!

Cheers,

Howard Roberts, Chair, Friends of Twickenham Green
