December 2009 News Update
It is amazing how green, The Green can look, after the rain. When I think back just to September, and remember how dry and dusty it looked, looking more like Twickenham Brown, than Twickenham Green.
On the first of this month we had a successful Christmas meeting and party, that was well attended. I was particularly pleased to be able to welcome new members along to this event. Special thanks must go to The Kings Arms Public House, who donated a wonderful buffet for our party this year. Thanks are also due to Twickenham Cricket Club, Thamesian Rugby Club, and all the members, who so kindly donated raffle prizes. It was a fun event, that generated nearly a hundred pounds to our funds, that will help next year to pay for new shrubs and trees.
As the weather gets colder, and we leave The Green to the pigeons, and gulls and magpies, we can look forward to the Spring and a full calendar of events. We will tell you more about all of that, in the New Year.
To all of you who have supported us over the last year, may I thank you. And to all of you who enjoy this precious open space, may I wish you a very Merry Christmas, and a Happy New Year.
Best festive wishes,
Howard Roberts, Chair, Friends of Twickenham Green
