Notes from the Chair - 04/08/10
First of all, many thanks to all of those friends and organizations that helped to ensure the success of our third annual Twickenham Green Fete, on Sunday 18th July. The weather was kind, and a good time was had by all.
Special thanks to the following either as sponsors, or for donating prizes, or their time:- Martin and Co, Green Plumbing, Arthur's On The Green, Krafty Kids, Eli Dean Tailored Toning, Ewing Foundation, King's Arms, Strawberry
Hill Golf Club, Taste Of Raj, Twickenham Cricket Club, and finally Pippa Wood and Simon Bradley for the staging. If I have left anyone out, my apologies. Provisional date for next years Fete has been set for 3rd July - watch this space.
Sadly the long dry spell has taken its toll on the condition of The Green. It has been suggested that not since the drought of 1976, has The Green been in such a poor state. This is of course true for all open spaces in the area, We will continue to work closely with the council, carefully monitor the area, and do what we can.
Our next full members meeting is at the Cricket Pavilion on Tuesday 14th September. This is our Annual General Meeting, and we hope to see you all there, especially those new members who have joined over the summer, at our various events. The bar will be open, so come along and join us. I look forward to seeing you all there.
Cheers,
Howard Roberts, Chair, Friends of Twickenham Green
